Speeding Up for Success after Failure of #Salon & SPA Business
Beauty and
wellness industry have become the most flourishing and growing business
compared to other industries. Three words that best describes of owning a
successful and profitable #beauty
business are apathy, change, and turmoil. Salon owners are facing many
challenges and obstacles because of changing and competitive environment.
The increasing
excessive income, need of presenting oneself well coupled with beauty and
health consciousness as well as psychological benefits are a few reasons why
this industry is a lucrative one.
Every day there
are hundreds of salons, SPAs, and #beauty clinics
emerging all across the country to take advantage of this popular trend. While we
have several great reasons to believe salon and SPA business will succeed, also
it’s true that 80% of such mushrooming units do not survive beyond 2 years. The
others do not cross even 1000 days. Some of the challenges of owning a successful
#career in beauty
are a lack of business management skills, increasing competition, lack of
information, turnover, obsolete education system and lots more.
So who is at
fault? What’s the reason that salons and spas are closing down their business
in large numbers? Is it not an interesting profession or a non-viable business?
The new generation of young salon owners and hairdressers are especially
vulnerable during these difficult times.
As per my belief
and judgment, the truth is neither of the above. The only reason of an
unsuccessful salon and spa is impulsive failure to apply sound management of practices
and methods. 95% of non-corporate salon business do not realize the necessity
of taking training on the science of managing a business.
They tend to
assume that if you are a trained and qualified beauty therapist, hairdresser, have
knowledge in SPA and makeup or hire a technical staff and put a decent looking
salon, it will definitely work. This is one of the biggest mistakes most of the
professionals make.
Chill! No
worries! In my multi-blog series, I’ll love to share with you some of the
essential and far-reaching salon and SPA management practices before you plunge
into this business. I guess it’s not too late to imbibe these skills now for a
rewarding business in the future. #LTASchoolofBeauty
wishing you success and better luck!
